Gilgamesh to Blame for Enkidu's Death.

Nicholas Pecorino

I feel Gilgamesh is to blame for Enkidu's death because in tablet six it states that after Gilgamesh insults Ishtar, her Father Anu warns her that "The city of Uruk will suffer seven years of drought," " Istar assured her father that she would prepare the city for the coming drought." As Ishtar releases the Bull of Heaven Enkidu and Gilgamesh come up with a plan to destroy and kill the Bull of Heaven. Doing so later that night during Enkidu's sleep he has a dream that "The gods of the heavens held a council." Later in there council Enlil states that Enkidu helps Gilgamesh kill Humbaba(Bull of Heaven) guardian of my cedar forest. After this Enlil says "One of these two must die" "let it be Enkidu." This is how I feel it is Gilgamesh's fault Enkidu dies because Gilgamesh dragged Enkidu in the battles.
